“Can I… Can I touch your ears, mister…?” She asks so weakly, sniffs intermingling her words, as Tighnari can’t help but continue to stare.
Is it okay to touch?” She asks again, her eyes clearly having been in line with it the entire time. Tighnari huffed out quietly. “Of course, little one.”
Collei jumped a little, her little steps making the wood creak as she wrapped little fingers around the smooth fur and cartilage that sat on Tighnari’s head. All the people of Gandharva Ville stared, but he had no choice. If this was how to calm down the crying child, then his ears would prefer the touches more than the crying. Still, he could only feel the oncoming dread of having to explain this to the other responsible Sumerian when it came to Collei’s wellbeing.
Involuntarily, Tighnari’s ears rushed to tuck themselves back, Collei’s hands retract in surprised as she squeaked.
“Oh, the General Mahamatra is going to kill me…”
Collei is turned back into a child and now Tighnari and Cyno are actually her dads.

“I’m not sick,” Cyno says weakly.
Tighnari rolls his eyes as he closes the distance between them. “Above average temperature,” Tighnari begins to list, laying the back of his hand against Cyno’s forehead. “Congestion, based on the sound of your voice. Some kind of sore throat or cough, seeing as you also sound quite hoarse.”
“Tighnari—” At the worst possible time, Cyno doubles over in another coughing fit. Tighnari rubs his back with a sigh, soothing him with a gentle hand up and down his spine until the fit passes.
“Very chesty cough. You need to be resting and drinking fluids, not working,” Tighnari continues, more gently. “How long have you been feeling ill?”
Cyno is sick. His partners care for him.

There were much less people inside. “It was a joint project between Amurta and Spantamad, focusing on ley lines and the effect they have on aging. The Scribe was interested in the subject, so he came to view the experiment. It was only meant to be done on some plants, but proper safety measures weren’t met. The Scribe tried to enforce the correct measures, but their argument led to a misfire of the project.”
Kaveh hadn’t felt his heart race more since he realized he’d ruined his friendship with Alhaitham back as a student. “A-and? Is Alhaitham okay?”--

It was always a breath of fresh air when Wriothesley was called up to the surface. And it seemed like he was being called up by the Chief Justice more and more these days.
At first, it was your typical parlay between dignitaries. Wriothesley had officially taken his post with little to no fanfare, but plenty of eyes were still upon him for a fair few good reasons.
Yet a very specific set of eyes were taking in each of their many meetings into account when settling firmly on an opinion of Wriothesley; a personal opinion as well as a professional one. The Duke had fallen under the gaze of the Chief Justice, who seemed intent on taking as long as necessary to thoroughly make a judgment of his present character.
A judgment that was taking quite some time to decide upon.
Still, the Duke gladly humored him.
Though certain feelings started to stir despite himself…

He'd sit at his desk and stare at his work for hours, growing increasingly more upset until he eventually worked himself into tears, which usually resulted in him pulling his hair, stomping his foot and whining– Generally acting in a, quite frankly, mortifying manner.
He wasn't a child. There was absolutely no excuse for his behavior. His only relief was knowing this was a secret he'd be taking to the grave.

Summary
If Kaveh followed orders, there would be no major cause for concern. Eventually, his wrist would fix itself and all would return to the status quo. He just figured it would be simpler and better for his body to get someone else to do his hair, and if Alhaitham struggled to braid for the first time in his life, that would be hilarious, too.
But the tightness manifesting in Alhaitham’s gut was far from apprehension towards braiding hair.
Kaveh, out of work following an injury, asks Alhaitham for help.

"He dumped me! He said since I was already 'so clearly dating you' he couldn't see how he fit into the picture!" Kaveh flung his hands over his head for emphasis, a bright blush blooming across his face. "Can you believe that?! I thought scholars were supposed to be smart! I mean, really!"
"What an idiot," Alhaitham confirmed as he felt his own blush deepen across his features. "Who on earth would be dumb enough to think we're dating?"
"Yeah! We can't stand each other!" Kaveh shifted in Alhaitham's lap, a petulant pout gracing his features.
"Obviously." Alhaitham said, reaching up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind Kaveh's ear.

Denial must also be a river in Sumeru, because Haikaveh have been furiously rowing a boat up against that current for years.
Or, five times Kaveh ditched a date to hang out with Alhaitham, and one time Haitham did the same.
