Shepard develops some semblance of a normal routine. She and Garrus start talking daily, and it feels just like old times. Something seems…off about him, though. Every time they spend physical time together, his omni-tool almost never stops pinging with new messages. He checks every single one of them, but never seems to respond to any. They also seem to only ever exasperate him.
“Well, you’ve been popular lately,” she says one day after at least the fifth message has come through on his tool.
He lets out a soft sigh. “It’s nothing important.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
She leaves it at that, still not wanting to push. She has a feeling this could be part of why he left Palaven. It got to be too much. Right. He’ll tell her when he’s ready.
