At first, Zhongli had missed him terribly. As the years passed by, he thought of Childe less and less, and at this point he would have said he’d gotten over the whole strange affair. Except that from the moment he set foot in Snezhnaya, he could think of nothing but Childe. His accent, a hint of something harsh around the consonants, his smile, coolly charming, his laugh, brash and reckless. Zhongli still had not forgotten the color of his eyes, their strange lightless quality.
“I miss you,” he said to the narwhal stain on the ceiling, because he could not say it to Childe himself.
The narwhal did not answer him, which was for the best. He turned over, closed his eyes, and tried to get some sleep.
