And as she stands there, pinioned on the spot by the sheer weight of what moving forward would mean, of what shattering their carefully honed balance act might cause, she finally understands. There was never a moment, a single point in time when her world had suddenly shifted, her feelings gelling into something new. What she felt for him had always been there. It had never changed, but had simply grown, expanding to fill voids of her that hadn't existed in childhood, taking over her until every single particle of her being loved him.
