Summary
The Armed Detective Agency receives a mission to investigate and take down an assassin group that has been targeting high-profile individuals through a very specific method: first, the target is sent into an unwakeable sleep for a week, and second, when they wake up, they are unable to speak. Third and last, they die of a heart attack two weeks later. Ranpo suggests negotiating with the Port Mafia for the aid of executive Chuuya Nakahara, wanting to have Double Black at their disposal. But when Chuuya arrives… he cannot speak.
Chuuya Nakahara has been targeted, and supposedly, he has two weeks left until he is killed.

“Is it something we need to be concerned about?” Ranpo asks, peering at Dazai with open-eyed scrutiny.
“Not yet,” he admits. “Not at all if I can help it.”
“You had better. I’m not going to clean up your mess.” Closing his eyes again and reclining back in his chair, Ranpo adds, “it’s Tuesday, by the way.”
Dazai had seen it already. On his phone. On the calendar. Still, he hadn"t quite trusted the time until just this moment. Artificial years spent unlearning his defenses; seven lifetimes with his anxiety so far removed from him that it feels like an anchor pinning him down at the chest, now. He doesn’t even pretend to work, throwing himself on the couch and focusing his attention on regulating his breathing. Working up plans and contingencies and playing through all the hypothetical conversations he’s going to have to have.

Summary
He sits back on his heels and hands Chuuya an open notebook, Dazai’s sloppy penmanship scrawled across its pages.
Chuuya feels half as calm as he sounds. “The fuck is this?” The jittery feeling under his skin is new, a buzz in him that Chuuya doesn’t recognize. A strange clench of his heart he doesn’t know how to translate.
“A dream,” Dazai replies with a shrug.
