Technoblade rarely travels in the Nether anymore. He'd come down here this time to gather a few materials he can't get in the Overworld, and then he was going to leave the place where he was born but not raised.
And then he’d heard the snuffling. It’s a quiet thing, sniffling mixed with high-pitched whines, and, oh, there go his instincts. Recognizing the sound even though he’s never heard it before- though he definitely made it in his youth.
There’s a piglet nearby, and they’re terrified.
He casts one final, forlorn glance at the gold he’d seen higher up, and then he turns to follow the sound.

Phil raised his eyebrows, and gave a short warble in reply. “Well,” He said with a soft smile, “you’re very energetic today- hey!” He cut off with a laugh as Tommy shrieked and darted around him, startling Phil when his head popped up underneath his own inky-black wing.
Phil got several garbled twitters in response, that nearly sounded like he was being mocked. He probably was, to be fair.

Phil already has an established flock, so adopting Tommy should have been as simple as plucking him from Dream’s sinister hold. Unfortunately Tommy only communicates by chirping, and can’t seem to figure out that Phil only wants to help him.
