Summary
"I forgive you!" She cried. "All you have to do is stop!"
If he considered it, it was not for long. Soon his shoulders would square, his chin turning up in that way she'd come to know so well. The return of Pride. No matter the instance, it would always came back to this:
She, reaching out, begging him to choose their love. He, leaning in, only for a fraction of a moment, and then no more.
"Ir abelas, vhenan... but I cannot." He kept his eyes away, his face and body turned. "Long before we met I... failed my oldest friend. She died for that failure," he explained. "If I leave the Veil in place, I am destroying the world she wanted. And I will have," he stuttered, "she, will have died for nothing."
Her heart was breaking. Before her and inside her. Her Pride was shattered. So, it would make sense now to turn away. All the same, she would sooner be destroyed at his heel than alone in a world without him.
There was no honour in it, sure, but it was the truth of the thing.
She would allow him his final betrayal. She would accept it; forgive it as the price of loving him.
Her betrayer.

One of his hands was up at the back of her neck, fingers curled around the loose strands of mousy brown hair, twirling it absently.
“Solas?” She rest her chin on his chest, staring up at his chin.
“Mm?”
“Can I ask you about spirits?”
