“Hi,” Dream says, smiling without teeth. “Who are you?”
Mark frowns, eyes flicking between the two men like he thinks he missed a chapter or two. George can’t blame him. “Uh— I’m Mark.”
George beats Dream to talk. “This is my friend I told you about,” he explains, leaning further into Dream, purposely avoiding his eyes. He feels the grip on his waist tighten. “Guess I found him.”

“Just–” he sighs. “Promise not to make fun of me? I’m a bit embarrassed about it.”
“Oh, come on now George, I can’t make promises about that,” Dream chuckles, but corrects himself after the slight pause in the lack of George’s response. “I’m kidding George, I don't want to make you uncomfortable, you know, I get sensory issues over some foods too,”
“No it’s not that, it’s something else,”
“George, I won’t be bothered if you didn't like it.” The same soft tone has returned, and George melts around the edges.
“Dream.” There's a hummed response. “I’m allergic to bee stings, and honey, apparently,”
or, the 5 times George is stung by a bee and the 1 time he wasn’t, but he really thought he had been.

“What the fuck, George? She asked how we got together, George. What–what does that mean?”
“I’m–I’m sorry.” George mumbles an apology. “I didn’t know you were coming here, idiot. I–I–”
“So–so you told them we’re together?” Dream asks with a no bullshit tone. George’s eyes leave Dream’s, flitting to the pink elephant on his end table. “Why?”
“They–they were nagging me, Dream, and–and when I said I was dating someone and my mum assumed it was you…” George trails off with a shrug, scrunching his face at his own words. “I don’t know, Dream."
“But George,” Dream says his name with stress. “Now they think we’re together and we have to tell them the truth.”

A halt in the brunet’s step. There are raindrops that fall off dirty fingertips and onto the carpet. It’s a meek turn, but George takes it, keeping his gaze on the ground.
“You’re George…right?”
George barely meets his eyes but it’s a faint nod that Dream catches because he’s taking all of him in. It almost hurts.
Or, Dream's always had a lot of love in his heart and never anyone to give it to. Until he meets George.
