He’s panting, his thighs ache, and there’s a cramp forming beneath his ribs on the right side, but all of that is nothing compared to the exhaustion clouding his brain.

Summary
The first time it happens Zayn is only two and there is a searing pain in his side that sends him to his knees, eyes welling up with tears. His mom rushes towards him from where she is perched on the swing, watching her son play in the sand of the playground. The pain won’t stop and he is rushed to the hospital only to have the doctors find absolutely nothing wrong with him. He is given painkillers that don’t seem to work, and finally sedatives to put him to sleep, hoping, whatever it is, it will go away after he has rested.
