Viktor knew it was Giopara from the get-go, despite the disorientation and grogginess upon waking. Firstly, that dolt was the only soul in Piltover or Zaun witless enough to try something so brazen and monumentally stupid. Viktor didn’t need to hear the familiar clack of those steel-toed boots, didn’t need to recognize that pattern of grunts-and-sighs that he’d grown so very accustomed to in their many years as partners. Nor did he need to recognize the size and strength of the hands on him, the way they moved and the way they knew exactly how to handle Viktor’s body; despite the many heavy steel augmentations, they could still navigate Viktor like the pages of a beloved book.

Meanwhile Viktor, twenty-two years old, figures that hey, as long as he can research magic, this isn’t too bad of a predicament.
Or: Post-Season 2 Jayce and Season 1 Viktor, the grief of having lost your soulmate while having to look at his younger version who doesn’t even know you, the endless exhaustion of being a second-hand love and also science.

Summary
He'd done this once before, however Jayce had been the one leading, not the other way around. He tried to feel out what he remembered from the last time and what he’d seen Jayce do to himself, this felt so much more intimate than before. Maybe it was the enclosed space and its privacy, maybe it was the way Jayce looked at him like he held the world upon his shoulders. Viktor tried to shut out the swarm of thoughts to simply focus on Jayce and his pleasure. He moved the rod and felt its absence where his thumb had been pressed against Jayce's length, then pushing it back in he felt the hole fill and Jayce squirming under his fingers.
“Fuck. Feels so different when I'm not–” he groaned deep in the back of his throat and Viktor felt the sound go right to his own dick.

As the night drags on, Jayce and Viktor find themselves struggling to stabilize the arcane crystal. This is only exacerbated by the fact that Viktor is incredibly attractive, and Jayce can't seem to tear his eyes off the Zaunite.

That is, if they can get all the work done for it in time when Jayce is exhausted, overworked, and at risk of burning out entirely before they even make it there.
So when Jayce jokingly asks Viktor to take control and tell him what to do, in the hopes that it will help Jayce relax and get some much needed sleep before the competition, he was not expecting Viktor to so readily oblige. Nor was he expecting what happened after.

The Machine Herald is captured by Piltover after a failed attack on the bridge, and he is mortally wounded in the process. Jayce must risk everything to save him and repair the damage done, racing against the clock as Piltover hunts him down for treason, but the history between them complicates things. Despite his claims that his actions are no longer dictated by emotion, Viktor is still harboring anger and hatred for his exile in the wake of Jinx's attack, and blames Jayce for what happened. But despite it all, they still care about each other (in their own violent, traumatized ways) and as time runs out, necessity forces them to face the past—and each other—if they want to get out of this unscathed.
