“Mm…” Marina hums, processing. “You’d just help me relax?”
Pearl shrugs, staring down at the mole on Marina’s face. “Yeah..."
Marina smiles, soft and gentle, face smoothing from its worried pull into something more relaxed. “I trust you, Pearlie. If you think it’ll help… Let’s do it.”

Summary
The first thing you know, before anyone or anything else, is Marina.
When you open your eyes for what feels like the beginning, she’s there. Holding you like a newborn. It’s quiet—no, absolutely silent, and the world is still fuzzy and you feel fuzzy as if you’re just waking up. But then, you blink, and Marina finally comes into focus. Her skin’s a warm, dark brown, and her teal eyes glimmer.
Just like you left her.
When she catches you, she gives you a lovesick smile.
“Hey, Pearlie,” she says, her voice a husky whisper. She presses a kiss to your forehead. “I missed you.”
