Hell, Henry was the cause of him getting his head out of his ass and admitting that jerking off with your high school best friend and ogling your lacrosse teammates’ asses in locker rooms was not straight behavior at all. But as much as it hurts to admit it, Alex has come around with the fact that Henry is never going to feel the same way.
Either way, Alex would rather die than lose Henry over some misplaced feelings. Best friends it is for as long as Henry allows him in his life.

It became a thing.
At first, Alex was hesitant, certain that he was intruding on Henry’s personal space. But Henry didn’t mind. He slept better with Alex by his side, too.
But then Alex started coming into Henry’s bed more frequently; sometimes just when he couldn’t sleep or felt lonely. Or cold. Alex insisted that Henry’s bed was more comfortable and his room was better for sleeping because the bright street light outside Alex’s room was intrusive. Henry’s room faced the courtyard and was therefore darker. Basically, he made all sorts of excuses and Henry started to wonder about Alex’s true motivations…

It’s Henry's blanket.
The one Alex would sometimes find him wrapped in, bundled up on the couch, with a steeping mug of tea on the coffee table and a book in his hands.
Or other times, Alex would find a lump of a human, barely visible in his own bed, drapes drawn closed and no signs of Henry having eaten that day. That’s when he’d slip under the blanket too, pulling Henry’s body close to his, not saying anything with words but everything with a kiss placed on the temple.
If Henry leaves, he’ll probably take this blanket with him, Alex thinks, trying to wrap himself even tighter with the material.
Or: Alex overhears a conversation between Henry and Bea and realizes there's a lot more things that he feels for his roommate.

Neatly laid out on a cushy bed of silk lining the drawer. There were a lot of them. Alec immediately felt a little lost as he surveyed the variety of colors and shapes and sizes. There were some that were anatomically-correct but some toys looked weird as heck, and Alec really wasn’t sure how one could use them. There were small ones and big ones and holy shit, how did you even fit some of them into your body?!
A pair of arms wrapped around his middle from behind, startling him so much he actually yelped and flailed a little, luckily managing to avoid hitting Magnus in the face with his elbow.
