Summary
Just like Steve hadn’t asked him to stay out from under the ice, though, Bucky hasn’t asked him to stay out of the fold. Out of trouble, sure (god knows he needs the reminder), but as much as Bucky wishes he’d just sit his ass down and let Bucky take care of him, he can’t take that part of Steve that always keeps him fighting away. It wouldn’t be right.
So for now he settles for being his sanctuary on the time he does get with him. It’ll be good enough until it isn’t. That’s how taking care of Steve always is.
Bucky just wishes he had known the breaking point for it all was going to be today.
