Cyno’s expression completely shifts in a matter of seconds. From something gentle and concerned to absolutely nothing at all. He squares his jaw, eyebrows leveling, and sets his shoulders back. He’s prepared to be the General Mahamatra. “What of her?”
“Collei,” Amir repeats, wiping the sweat off of his face with the back of his sleeve. Tighnari forces himself to take a deep breath, in and out. “She–she’s gone.”
The world stops. His throat is dry, much too dry. Perhaps he’d stumbled into the desert, and started hallucinating, because he must not have heard Amir properly, there’s no way.

“I figured Chibi had gotten used to dealing with Corruption without me, so he could handle himself,” Dazai lied poorly, too focused on staring at Chuuya’s slightly exposed collarbone that had a trail of dark, semi-dried blood running down it.
Chuuya gave him a strange look, scrunching his nose up in a way that Dazai normally would’ve paid more attention to, considering how cute it was.
“The fuck you mean ‘Corruption without you’? There is no Corruption without you, I’d die,” Chuuya said bluntly, looking suspiciously at Dazai. “You know that.”
Dazai did, in fact, know that. He used to lord it over Chuuya’s head all the time — he wasn’t just going to forget, and it would be a bit difficult to pretend he conveniently had just now.
“Chibi was fine without me,” Dazai said instead, trying a different tactic and brushing off his last comment.
“You left me in the middle of a fucking field you asshole,” Chuuya growled, gritting his teeth at Dazai. “You call that fine?!”OR
Dazai's trying to keep the fact that he's a vampire from Chuuya. That goes about as well as expected.
