Summary
Grian fought to breathe around the hand on his throat, pinning him against the wall above the ground, even as his legs kicked and thrashed through its body. He fumbled for the salt his pocket, adrenaline and the lack of oxygen making his fingers clumsy. Black spots swirled in his vision as the hand tightened, and his limbs began to tingle, losing feeling. There were tears pooling in the corners of his eyes from the panic and pain, and he realized with a jolt of horror that there was no way he would be able to get the salt, no way he would be able to escape.
This was the end of the line for him. His limbs went slack as the black spots spread to cover his full vision, rendering him blind. He wasn"t even going to be able to see his killer. Just black. His head felt fuzzy, light, and he sagged in the hold of the spirit, still stuck against the wall. He hoped it would destroy his body. He didn"t want to hang around as a spirit, not when his company would be his murderer. He"d make a terrible ghost anyway.

Summary
If Scar listens carefully, he can almost hear the other"s teeth grind together in a painful creak - Grian had always tended to turn towards anger when he felt trapped, caged dog lashing out teeth first, and this time was no exception. "Why are you so calm about this?"
He shrugs. "I figured I"d wait until they return to check on the bloodbath… and then I"d kill them."
"And if they’re stronger than you?"
Scar lifts an eyebrow, in the exact way he knows will get under Grian"s skin. "Well then I"ll be dead, and I won"t have to worry about it."
"You are so-" Grian"s first words get swallowed, and then spat back a little differently. "insufferable!"
The worn elastic of his patience snaps under the dual weight of hunger and frustration, combining into a hot venomous blade of words. "And you"re the coward who left his partner of two years behind without giving a single reason why, but you don"t see me yelling about it."

Summary
It"s been a month since Scar pleaded for Grian to take Scar"s final life, and it"s been a month since Grian didn"t.
The server is empty, chest gathering dust and shards of forgotten potions litter the ground, as it"s only two inhabitants hardly ever venture outside the desert.
Bloodlust rots their veins and promises from the dead encapsulate every intake of air they breathe. Each time these voices take over and a hand gets coated in blood, neither can take that final step to end it.
So, they live. Here, in the desert forever.

It turns out Grian has had feelings for Scar for a while but didn’t know because the watchers modified his code to suppress romantic feelings. Luckily Xisuma notices and fixes his code but now Grian’s being hit with years worth of pent-up pining and, understandably, panics a bit.

Now, Grian had extensively warned the players entering the games about the risk. He’d had nearly ten meetings covering — in detail — every way this could go wrong (or right.)
He’d had them sign wavers. Saying he wasn’t liable for any damages, relationship changes, or hybrid evolutions they may or may not come under. Ren and Martyn had been in hysterics reading the list. Cackling over it while Grian had remained red faced but firm in his standings.
Who would have thought that almost every single warning ended up applying to Grian!

His eyes were a vibrant violet, with cat-like pupils that matched his mischievous smile. Yet what stood out to Hotguy was his hot-pink wings.
The colorful feathers shimmered under the neon city’s lights. They were so fluffy Hotguy wanted nothing more than to touch them. Instinctively, he stretched out his hand, only to be met with a light whack to the face and a mouthful of plumage.
“Ow! Geez, what was that for?” He spat out a pink feather.
“Didn’t anyone tell you to ask for permission first? Or do you think you can do anything you want since you’re a hotshot hero?”
Or five times Xelqua wouldn’t let Hotguy touch his wings, and one time he did.
