He means to say no. He really ought to. They’ll both be miserable. It’s hard to find someone who will even entertain the notion of sharing living space with a witcher, but there has to be another option.
Except, then a funny thing happens. Jaskier smiles, friendly and guileless as anything. “Your eyes are incredible. Sorry! I wasn’t flirting. That would be a terrible way to start a… roommate situation. Th—”
“They’re contacts,” Geralt replies. It’s self preservation, practically an automatic response.
“Well, cool contacts then.” Jaskier shrugs, fiddling with the spare key before holding it out to Geralt. Even that is stamped all over with Jaskier’s existence, dangling from an absurdly fluffy hot pink keychain. “So?”
Jaskier has no idea what he is. It’s the promise of some kind of normalcy that sways Geralt in the end. It’s not like he’ll have to be here that often anyway. It’s more just a place to sleep between contracts than anything else.
Geralt scowls at the fluff like it’s personally insulted him… but he takes the key.

Excerpt from “Family History — Revisiting the Witcher Split Five Years Later,” GQ, Issue 1710, Nov. 2021
There was a time, not too long ago, when Witcher and its frontman Geralt Rivii were just about synonymous with 21st century rock. Notoriously taciturn, evasive in interviews but beloved by the industry for his rough, baritone voice, Geralt often seemed larger than life. He cut a fairytale profile on stage: stark white hair, intimidating size, and perhaps the least-dynamic presence of any frontman in history, as if someone had glued him to a backboard and stood him up in front of the microphone.

Summary
“You’re lying on the coats,” the man says by way of greeting.
If Jaskier were at the top of his game, he would come up with something witty, breezy, and just a little flirty. But he hasn’t been at the top of his game in about a year so he says, “Sometimes it’s just nice to know what it’s like to be someone else’s coat.”
The man blinks. He has extraordinary hazel eyes, almost golden in color. “Uh, how is it?”
“Depends on the coat.”Feeling out of place at a party where he doesn't know anyone, Jaskier retreats to hide among the other guests’ coats. But he’s not the only one looking for a place to hide.

Summary
What started in a bar leads to weekend trips, loving moments, and an infatuation so intense, Jaskier never stood a chance.
Then, one day, Geralt decided it wasn't working anymore. One day, Geralt broke Jaskier's heart.
A month later, and Jaskier's written the perfect song about it: and, maybe broadcasting his emotional devastation on TikTok is not the most mature thing he could have done. But, Jaskier's heartbroken. He can be forgiven for his dramatics.
