Summary

Everything about this is wrong. The voices Lan Xichen hears inside the ancestral hall shouldn’t be there. The words being spoken shouldn’t be said. They’re either entirely wrong or completely unfair, and he isn’t going to stand for it.
Or, there was someone at the golden core reveal willing to stand up for Jiang Cheng
//This is set specifically in the donghua timeline where Guanyin Temple happens before golden core reveal happens, and is NOT Wangxian friendly (but it’s hopeful for reconciliation in the future). I love them. I do. I promise. But this is just really self-indulgent and I just want some justice for my boys. If that’s not to your tastes, I’d much rather you close out of the tab, than read something that you won’t enjoy.

Feng Xin had never seen him cry. 800 years and Feng Xin had never seen Mu Qing cry - not like this, anyway. It was the kind of broken and screaming sobs that would make your voice hoarse, that made your head ache and left you exhausted for days after, and these broken sobs were coming from Mu Qing of all people. Mu Qing, who was usually shrouded in an air of indifference, who would endlessly deflect and shy away if a situation begged him to show even a small amount of vulnerability, who was right now clutching onto Feng Xin’s shirt like it was the only thing tethering him to life, the only thing keeping him from dipping into insanity.
