Henry’s heart lurches painfully as he nods. “Yeah, of course,” he replies, his voice hoarse with the onslaught of emotion running through his body.
“And you said that kissing a boy helped you figure out who you are attracted to, right?”
This time Henry only hums in response, his heart beating so erratically, Alex must hear it.
“You absolutely can say no and I will never ever hold it against you because this is seriously not something friends do for each other, even if you are best friends, but –”
“Yes,” Henry interrupts him breathless before he feels himself blush hard. He clears his throat before he tries again. “I-I mean,” he stutters nervously, “you can, you know, kiss me. If it helps you figure things out.”
Or an AU in which Henry still hates New Year's, is desperately in love with Alex, and might finally get everything he ever wanted when his best friend asks him for help. They figure it out.

Henry nearly chokes on his own saliva.
Bea whines. “Could we not?”
“Too late,” Pez points out, tilting his head at Alex. “Answer the question.”
“It was two questions,” Alex argues, his knee bouncing. “That’s against the rules.”
“Answer the second one then.”
Henry looks over at June, who seems suddenly invested in their game. She meets his gaze with a twisted smile and soft eyes, like she knows.
“I don't know if it's fair to—”
Nora interrupts him. “Answer, Alex. That's the game.”

Summary
Claremont’s Farm and Garden is the third garden center that pops up on Google.
It’s also the only one that’s open early on Sunday when Henry’s insomnia has kept him up all night, and he’s sick of lying in bed, pretending he’s going to get some rest.
There are only a few cars in the parking lot when his Uber drops him off, and he double-checks the time on his phone, hesitant to go in.
“You plannin’ on joining us, or are you going to stand in the parking lot all day?”
Henry looks up at a man no older than himself, watering a table filled with small, white flowers. He’s wearing a loose pair of khaki cargo shorts, a blue t-shirt with Claremont printed across the front framed with yellow roses, and a straw cowboy hat.
“So, are you in or out?”

Summary
Henry waits until he hears the chime ring over the door, signaling that they’ve gone back outside, before he walks slowly forward to the display they’d been standing in front of. It’s a shelf full of sweets, packages of brightly colored candies and a vast assortment of chocolate bars. At first, Henry just stares, wondering why on earth Alex would be dreaming about candy. He knows Alex has an occasional sweet tooth, but moaning about it in his sleep seems a little excessive.
Then he spots a yellow wrapper in the middle of the display, and his heart jumps into his throat at the words on the label.
OH HENRY!
