Summary
The reader is a remarkably talented young woman. She grew up as the daughter of a United States senator, groomed to follow in his footsteps and pursue a political career path. Much to the chagrin of her parents, the reader became disillusioned with politics and fled to join the army; a place she felt as though she could be useful. Her father allowed her to stay under one condition: she is not to reveal her identity and risk bringing shame onto the family name.
Embracing being the “failure” of her family and feeling liberated from the standards of perfection, the reader thrives in military life under the persona of the mute Vincent “Coyote” Williams. She constantly showed amazing skill, discipline, and potential that led to her ascension to the coveted Task Force 141. When she gets there, though, she has a hard time settling in amongst her new peers.
Will she be able to ingratiate herself to her new comrades in spite of the fact that she can’t verbally communicate? Will she be able to keep her secret from some of the brightest and most observant individuals she’s ever met?

You don’t know why Ghost treats you as sweetly as he does. You don’t know why Ghost won’t let you get too close. You don’t know why Ghost of all people is able to send your stomach flipping with one cursory glance your way. You don’t know how one close call could change your relationship forever.
There’s only one thing you do know for sure: you love Ghost with your entire being.
