After 4 million years, what are they even fighting for? The Decepticons are tired, hungry and angry. Some would rather be living than fighting. Fear of Megatron can only keep a mech in line for so long after all.

“Oh. This was a gift. He remembered getting it. Macaque’s twelve year old self had been begging his parents for a specific tape recorder that didn’t need cassette tapes for years before he finally got it that one Christmas. It was a bit more dirty and roughed up than he remembered but it was definitely the tape recorder from all those years ago.
It would have been reasonable to have this in his things if not for the fact he lost it a month later. Not to mention his parents house was over 300 miles away.”
Macaque is a broke college student with a tendency to lose things and borderline depression
What happens when an old tape recorder from when he was 12 magically appears while he’s unpacking and has WAY more recorded on it than he had before by some guy that talks about being trapped in a place for lost things?Or: Macaque listens to recordings on his old tape recorder that weren’t there before and if he falls a little in love with the voice in the speaker that’s his business

“Is it bad?” Wukong asks from the other side of the fire, cast in an orange glow. Macaque looks up at him and rolls his eyes.
“Could be worse,” he says. It’s a half truth. It doesn’t feel bad, mostly because the area has already begun to go numb, which might be worse. “Might be poisoned, though. Stupid thing was probably venomous.”
“Shit. Is it…?”
Life-threatening?
Macaque snorts. “Guess we'll have to sit here and find out, huh?”
Or, alternatively: two monkeys walk into a cave.

Summary
‘He was still awake and breathing, but Wukong knew he wouldn’t be for long. His stomach churned.
The Institute sent him in to take the life of a dying man.
The Warriors eyes, or… eye flashed in fear for a moment before a bloodied smirk adorned his face. He laughed, a broken and raspy thing. Blood flew out of his mouth. “Well, I knew I was fucked, but now to have the Great Monkey King here to finish the job?” He threw his head back. The hood fell off as he silently giggled to himself. Wukong stood as a beacon of light, unmoving. “They really must want me dead.” He hysterically muttered to himself.’
Summary: Wukong is a hero sent on a mission to find and take out an injured villain named The Warrior. Wukong finds the guy but the villain’s already dying. What happens when the man asks him to stay by his side til he passes?
A lot of angst apparently.Or; Wukong comforts and befriends a dying villain he’s meant to kill and it goes how you would expect
