"Well, first you tried calling her," Bash told him. "You're lucky I saw you trying. You actually hit send, but I ended the call before she picked up and texted her. You're also lucky she remembered it was your surgery day, but she definitely thought something had gone wrong. I told her you were just hopped up on your pain meds still." He sighed. "But of course, I hadn't taken your phone from you, so you texted her."
Oh God. Gilbert slammed the home button and then flicked the screen up to get to his messages, his eyes going wide with possibly the most visceral fear he'd ever experienced.
