Summary
In case you don't live forever, let me tell you now
I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around
In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth
I'm everything that I am because of youI have a hero whenever I need one
I just look up to you and I see one
I'm a man 'cause you taught me to be oneHe doesn’t know how Niki knew. Maybe she didn’t at all. But the song she gives him makes him finally come undone—the clinging to Dream, the anger, the regret, the remorse, the “what-if”’s, the desperate need to trade places and be the one laying cold and stiff in a forest finally, for a moment, leaves him entirely. He’s left with nothing but reality. For once, it isn’t so scary.

Summary
“Every single time you try to gain your composure tonight, Dream, I’m going to stop you. You’re not going to win this little mental game you’re playing. I think you already know that, too. Why not just give in, baby? Feels good to give up control. I promise.”
“No,” Dream groans softly, his thighs pressing tightly together. He already feels himself beginning to harden as blood rushes south, and he lets out a heated breath against George’s shoulder. “You’re going to lose.”
George grins impossibly wider. “We’ll see about that.”
How losing the bet had just turned into another one in the making was unclear, but they're here now and there's no going back. Though, it really isn't looking good for Dream’s chances of winning.
Or; Dream loses two bets in a row.

Summary
George had a bit of what could only be described as a devilish grin on his face as he folded his hands behind his back. “It’s in your best interest to reread every page very carefully.”
Dream scoffed, but grinned. George seemed oddly dead set on this, so he decided not to push any further. “Alright then. I’ll read it.”
“All of it.”
“All of it,” Dream parroted. “Promise.”
George grinned and gave one more final nod of his head before turning and fleeing down the hall back towards his own dorm. For a while, Dream hadn’t had any idea what George was talking about—”it’s in your best interest to reread every page very carefully”, the fuck did that even mean?—until a few days later.
He sat down at his desk. He had a frat party tonight, so he figured he might as well cram some info into his brain before losing common sense at the party. It didn’t really make sense on paper, but it was his motivation to finally open the cover of the book.
And he immediately realized what George had meant.
Or; Dream gets into far more than he bargained for when George gives him his English notes.

Summary
It was on a night like tonight that Dream finally came to terms with the thing he’d been repressing and denying for over three years, under the same starry sky in the big-yet-small city of Orlando. He sat almost in this same spot, on a dock with his feet dangling and slowly kicking in the water, staring at an identical sky when he allowed himself to say the simple words “I love him” out loud for the first time. At first it was suffocating; the confession felt taboo and horrible, like the balance of the Earth itself had shifted. And then there was a gust of wind, and it carried the words away, and took the suffocation with it.
Sometimes, Dream wondered how far those words really traveled. He wondered how many ears “I love him” had passed through in a quiet, cool whisper that stirred hair and raised goosebumps on skin. Sometimes, Dream wondered if it drifted all the way to England. He wondered if George ever heard it. Wondered if he ever thought twice about it. Wondered if he knew.
That was a year ago now. He wondered how much the stars had changed since then, if they’d changed at all.

Summary
“So why did you?”
The words George has been dreading since Dream stepped foot into his house. “Why did you let me stay?” Dream takes another step forward, and George is hyper aware of how close they are to each other. If George really focuses, he swears he can feel the heat from Dream’s arm against his own, from inches apart.
“Because you…looked like shit,” George says, meeting his eyes.
Dream stares unwaveringly back. “What’s the real reason, George?”
The rise and fall of the Dream Team hit Dream hard—harder than it did George and Sapnap.
Maybe here, in the pouring rain, on the front doorstep of the house that belongs to someone who might want him dead more than anyone else, he’ll get a second chance.
And Dream is certainly not opposed to groveling or begging.

Summary
“Perfect as always,” he says as he hands the camera back to Dream. “How do you do it?”
Dream chuckles and takes the camera, setting it down against the windowsill. “Anyone could if you were the model, Georgie.”
Or, Dream is a photographer and George is his muse.

Summary
He draws one finger up George’s arm until he can rest it on the crook of George’s neck. “But you’ve killed people, haven’t you? Hurt them. Seen things. How much human is left? When you open your eyes, how long has it been since you last blinked?”

Summary
What if Dream was never really human?
Perhaps it would have spared George some grief.
Well, you don’t have to imagine.
(I suck at summaries, fan work of ashes to ashes where Dream is a vampire and as such didn’t die :))
