But when he runs across a huli jing with the exact same eyes as his old friend, Lan Xichen quickly realizes this isn't going to be a simple rescue mission anymore. It's going to be a lot more complicated.

Written for the 2023 Reverse Big Bang! Inspired by Km_Birdie's stunning XiYao piece, and lovingly beta'd by Sunshine. It's a weird mix of hurt/comfort, comedy, and poetic gore. But more than anything else, it is about a monster learning that he is not a monster after all, and that he is still worthy of love, and being saved, like everyone else.The gore isn't graphic (nor gross), but people do get attacked and eaten.
