Summary
When you were children things were a lot simpler. You and Cross would play your games of Hero and Recuee, he said he'd always be there to protect you. But things changed as you grew older, and now that you are both all grown up, responsibility and station have gotten in the way. Cross is the son of Lord Gaster, and prospective heir to the throne for the childless king and queen. You are merely a lowly human servant, at the very bottom of the hierarchy.
However, you have something not a lot of humans have: magic. This puts you in danger though, because in a society ruled by monsters, humans with magic are feared and eliminated.
Will Cross be able to protect you and your secret when you both learn of it, or will you both get caught in the middle of a fight between the bandit lord Nightmare, and his bounty hunter brother Dream?

A little company? Cross had felt alone for what seemed like decades before Nightmare saved him. The soldier was eternally grateful to even be in his king's presence. It always topped the loneliness of the void he had been trapped in. He gulped as Nightmare rubbed his cheek. Cross found himself enjoying the light touch more than he was comfortable with. He felt the fear he had from Nightmare fading away. Maybe this was some dream he was having? Even then, he’d dread waking up in his bed alone after an experience like this.

a year or so has passed since everything was back to ‘normal’, the XEvent becoming nothing more than a memory. Everyone lived casually in Xtale, no one forgot what happened in the past, but everyone tried to move on. Frisk and Muffet settled down together and owned a very successful bakery, everyone was moving on, life was good, everyone was happy… all except two people - Cross, who was finding life tedious and just wanted to stay at home. and Chara, Who trying to move on to the best of his ability.

“You do realize that if you cram everything like that in the situation you’re in right now, you’re guaranteed to not remember any of that, right?” He asked unfazed. Cross sighed and put his hand on his skull. Just ignore the child and keep going.
“Damn, are you even listening to me?”
“I don’t need sleep, I need to get a good score on this final,” Cross argued back. Chara’s right through. If he doesn’t get good rest, he won’t be able to do good on the exam and possibly fail the semester. But if he doesn’t study well, then he’d still fail as well. “Besides, I don’t want to take the course again if you were me.”
(Or where a sick Cross tries to cram studying while an annoyed but concerned Chara is telling him to rest, but then Cross gives an idea.)
