Cohle stood right in the middle of the door. His brow was an indescribable expression, half frowned towards sadness, half frowned towards tiredness. Mills sat in an empty interrogation room, hands clasped and legs extended. His gaze was fixed on a dead and lost point. Cohle knew what that look meant.
Or: Where Rust Cohle is not sent to Louisiana but is taken to New York. On the other hand, The detective William Somerset is about to retire and young David Mills will take his place. Being somewhat impulsive, Somerset believes that he needs a partner for when he is no longer around and Cohle fits the situation like a glove.
