Summary
Rhys is a graduate student writing his Criminal Psychology dissertation on prison reformation arcoss Pandora. For his research, he's granted an opportunity to work with Handsome Jack, the infamous head of the most notorious criminal empire in Pandora's history who narrowly avoided the death sentence during reformation. Acclimated to his life in prison, where he rules the roost with his loyal circle of connections, Jack sees Rhys as nothing but something to amuse himself with at first, to which Rhys feels contempt for. But as they get further under each other's skin, their opinions of one another start to shift. Rhys begins to question everything he previously believed about Jack. Soon, Rhys finds himself less concerned with his research, and more concerned with his own moral downfall. Because Jack's got a plan to escape his fate of lifelong imprisonment, and Rhys just might be convinced to help him in regaining his freedom.

What if the Vault hunters weren't the "good-ish" guys? What if the Vault was not a place, but a thing, lingering in wait for its true plan? What if what Jack saw on Elpis was not an answer but horrors beyond what he ever imagined? What if there were two girls, new and shy to this feeling of love, but unable to be. One girl so deeply entangled with the Vault the lines begin to blur, losing hope and control of herself in desperation. A "Guardian Angel" left with the weight of her sins and blood forced upon her hands.

Set after the events of Yes, Chef!, several years have passed since Chef Handsome Jack Wolfbaine forced The Diamond Pony to shut its doors, displacing its entire crew and putting his budding relationship with the up and coming Chef Rhys Alton AKA: Strongfork on indefinite hold. That could have been the end of things, but renovations funded by an anonymous benefactor and a partnership with Rhys, now running the show as the Pony's Executive Chef, bring the crew new life and success. But with Rhys planning to re-brand the restaurant and expand in the next few weeks, and new additions to the growing kitchen staff, anything and everything could go wrong. Couple that with the guilt still weighing on Jack's head over the events of the past, Maliwan threatening vengeance for Jack and Rhys trashing their company's reputation, and a figure from someone's past buying up every bar and casino property in Opportunity, things are set to go south very quickly.
