Summary
The thing is, Wilson doesn’t see himself as good enough to take care of another living thing.
He can take care of himself to a degree. He can cook, and fight a little bit, and run and hide and get things done to avoid the claws slowly making their way towards him in the dark of the night. He’s good at that.
But that’s not enough for someone to depend on him. He’s not a good enough protector, not a good enough caregiver. (Not a good enough father.)
Even so, he will have to learn how to be one.
(Or: Wilson survives on his own in the Constant for a few months, without having to worry for anyone else in particular. Enter Wendy.)

Summary
"It's not that I want to." His voice was soft, barely above a whisper. If she wasn't laying right beside him, she wasn't sure if she could hear him. "I don't want to hurt you. Or anyone else. It's just..." He paused, looking at his hand.
"You can't." She turned her head, looking into his eyes. "You can't because you can't control it. And she won't allow it. Does she?" He didn't give her an answer, but his silence was enough for her.
