That was good, he was keeping them engaged. “I love kids. They love me. Where’s yours, by the way?”
Lan Xichen turned to Nie Mingjue, but Nie Mingjue just stared back, apparently fascinated by Wei Ying. Lan Xichen turned back to look at Wei Ying again.

It’s all about expression.” His face twisted then, a shadow of the vicious snarling he’d seen earlier during his dance. That had been a kind of music, too. Wei Wuxian had used his body as an instrument, the stick he’d held in his hands an extension of his palm as he’d cracked it against the ground like thunder, as he'd yelled at the watching audience like a howling wolf. Watching him had felt like a bloodletting, like a release. Lan Wangji didn't want to leave just yet.

Wei Wuxian fell in a brilliant, burning blitz out of the sky as Lan Wangji screamed his name and tried to follow, as Wen Ning shut himself down when he was unable to follow.
Icarus spent thirteen long years playing the same song over and over again, wishing for the sun to rise again. His devotion was rewarded.
On the other side of the cultivation world, another Icarus spent years in a self-imposed death, waiting for the moment the sun illuminated his dungeon again. The heavens granted him his final wish, to be turned into the moon so as to orbit his sun forever.
