Following the Battle of Reach, too much happened for the UNSC to properly archive. Plenty of personnel and civilians perished and there was no determinant way to truly verify the number of Spartans lost. Most were documented to have perished over the course of the Covenant's invasion and many more died during the execution of the Cole Protocol when the retreat was ordered. Spartans Vinh and Isaac found themselves in a corner when they happened upon one of the Forerunner's deepest secrets.
