Summary
Inoue saved Ulquiorra but had to leave him ontop of Las Noches' canopy. Waking up having experienced a range of new emotions, Ulquiorra sets out to find some meaning in his life. In his quest to decipher the human heart he later heads to the Living World but then he discovers that Ichigo has lost his powers in the final battle with Aizen. Feeling like Ichigo's loss will help him understand Ulquiorra better, and vise versa, Ulquiorra reaches out and they help each guide each other through these strange times.
Grimmjow just wanted his goddamned rematch.

Summary
Ichigo was left alone after he defeated Aizen. With no spiritual pressure he can't even see hollows or soul reapers anymore. Had he been delusional for years, imagining being friends with others and going on adventures? His mind is too quiet with Shiro and Zangetsu gone, allowing room for the thoughts to spiral and gain teeth. How can he know what's real anymore? But in a moment of great need, two people show up. Grimmjow and Ulquiorra have come just as Ichigo gives up, taking care of the broken 17 year old.

“I don’t need someone to take care of me.”
“No. Cause ya got me,” Shiro said. Ichigo didn’t need to look down at him to know he was smirking.
“Excuse me?” Ichigo was fully laughing now. “Are you seriously saying you expect me to never grow up and have a partner, Shi? You’re worse than dad is with the girls.”
Shiro shook his head, “The girls aren’t my twin. Not sure about them. I’m sure about you, though. Yer different, Ichi. I just know. And I’ll take care of ya.”
Ichigo half wanted to shove his brother off of him but he just didn’t have the heart. Shiro’s version of caring for him was definitely odd, and probably overbearing, but Ichigo knew he was the most important person in the world to his brother. Shiro loved him, purely and unconditionally; he’d literally do anything for him. And Ichigo loved him too, as pushy and stubborn and ridiculous as he was.
“As much as I love you, Shi, I’m not going to have a romantic relationship with you,” Ichigo said, laughing lightly. “Someday I will have a partner.”
Shiro shook his head. “Ya won’t like it. That’s not you. Not me neither – the relationship part, anyway.”
