Do not ask for whom the foghorn tolls: it tolls for thee.
"One of the nights, the fog didn't roll over the lagoon. It happened occasionally, but it had been a long time since the last occurrence. A rare treat. She climbed to the roof of the fortress. The flying medusae had risen above the waters. The eerie column of red light shone right above the giant anemone. She saw a tendril slowly rise above the water, ink black against the starry sky and the medusae-lit waves. She shuddered. She could still see the beauty of it, what she had felt the first time she had arrived here. But she couldn't block her memories of the outpost destruction, of the palmed footprint below her windows, of the loneliness. She went back inside."
Or how the researcher felt living alone in the lagoon and how she got out.

Three years ago, the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) - the parent organization for AO3 - committed to acting on harassment and racist abuse that can currently happen through the site, including things like including using racial slurs against commenters, posting racist “spitefic” deliberately written to hurt and silence fans of color, naming critics of their fanworks in the tags of their fic to incite others to harass them, and more.
Join us in holding the OTW to their commitment and demanding change that will help keep all of us safer! Read more in our Call to Action, where you can find detailed information on the problem, what we’re demanding from the OTW, and how you can signal boost and get involved.
