Summary
After leaving Snezhnaya, Childe and Zhongli set out on an adventure together chasing the Abyss Order and deepening their relationship along the way.
“Childe,” Zhongli said and his voice was stern enough to have the younger man look up at him in surprise before he continued, “no matter what we find there I would not have you suddenly jumping in to things that require a clear head.”
“You mean like any random Abyss portals.”
“Among other things, but yes. We are a team. We will face whatever we find together. Agreed?”
Choosing to pick at the food before them, Childe didn’t respond immediately. But of course, Zhongli had the patience of immovable stone and on this he seemed willing to wait as long as he needed to. We are a team he’d said. Childe had never been much for teams but with Zhongli? He looked up from the food to see warm golden eyes watching him with calm expectation. So Childe had to smile and this time it was entirely genuine. “Agreed.” He leaned into the other man then and offered him another piece of sunsettia. “I wouldn’t have anyone else.”
Zhongli chuckled at that, “I certainly would hope not.”

Now, there’s no choice but to acknowledge them. He shifted directions. But upon seeing Paimon’s anxious face and the others expression that weren’t as equally as welcoming. A though came to mind, and a plan formed in his mind the closer he got.
“May I have this dance, Zhongli-xiangsheng?” He waited with bated breath. With the awareness of numerous eyes focusing on them, and specifically on him, a sense of scrutiny weighed heavily on his mind. As it was rather common knowledge that Tartagalia wasn’t one to dance, let alone engage in fake pleasantries. He would only dare to show up for appearance’s sake and to honor The Tsaritsa’s wish for all of her children to be there in attendance. He permitted people to admire him from a distance as long as they didn’t bother him. And he was quite fine with that.

An accidental magical bonding isn't how Childe wanted to become a father, but parents don't really get to choose their children, do they? He's only giving up a year of his life, just until the baby can bond with her birth father, but it's still a year of his life. Besides, he and Zhongli aren't on the best of terms--not any more--and now, they're stuck raising a baby together. It's alright, though. It has to be. And all he has to do is not get attached.
(Aka: Childe accidentally bonds himself to a baby adeptus, tries not to get attached, and then gets very attached.)

Summary
Originally, Childe was just using Zhongli for his knowledge of the Geo Archon, Morax. However, after spending a lot of time with him every single day, he started to care about the consultant. He didn’t want to use the other anymore.
Zhongli knew of the harbinger sent by the Tsaritsa to steal his gnosis. He knew this harbinger was the one who went by Childe. He only befriended him to guarantee he’d get enough information to test Liyue’s ability to stand without their god. What he couldn’t foresee is that they’d hang out every single day and that he’d start to care about the harbinger. He even wanted to tell Childe about his identity as Rex Lapis. He didn’t want to use the other anymore.
They were both using the other. They both needed things from one another to fulfil their own needs. So when did this turn into them actually caring about each other? And how would a friendship between enemies even work?

Summary
All is dark except for the green lights of the safety exits, and then all of a sudden a dim light just barely shines on the stage as the curtains open to reveal a dark, nearly spooky scenery.
The orchestra, down in the pit, starts playing, and as the notes freely flow through the hall, getting to Ajax and his sibling a bit late, he finds himself already immersed in the music.
It's relaxing and so he finds himself comfortable, then it tenses up and so he does the same and then he nearly startles when it explodes and lets his guard down as it quiets, eerie and mysterious, somehow even regal.
As the men on the stage solemnly walk out on its right, another figure waits for their disappearance to show itself with partial caution.
The music fades, and said figure gracefully emerges from the shadows, a light pointed on them-

The whispers of people around haunted him. Everyone is looking at him. Yet his face showed nothing. Soon he will follow the destiny given by his monarch. The destiny embroidered in his very essence since he was born.
"Henceforth, Ajax shall be known as Eleventh Harbinger Childe Tartaglia, and to mark this occasion, we bestow upon them a new family name and estates!" At the last words, the voice of the Tsaritsa roared in quiet glee.

Childe’s exit from the Primordial Sea after being hurled through the dimensional rift brings him on a small detour, and he comes face to face with someone who looks…a lot like Master Skirk.
(In which Jingliu and Skirk look SO ALIKE that I impulsively wrote a fic on that single premise.)Aka Childe interacts with the Astral Express, the Xianzhou Luofu cast, and check ins on Teyvat (every 18 ish chapters). He participates in a few companion quests ranging from Kafka’s to Jingliu’s. Watch him comprehend the power scaling in the Star Rail verse, getting himself into trouble, figure out how to return to Teyvat, and other shenanigans (if you ever wondered what would happen if Blade met Childe, this is the fic for you).
Oh and he impulsively ate the Lightless eye of the Maelstrom? (Wait- Didn't that mean he just ate the Narwhal?)

"No, no, Zhongli, please, believe me, I most certainly find it amusing. I find it very amusing that I believed that perhaps you cared for me as a friend, and were not just using me to see your plan come to fruition; I think that is it most amusing that you colluded with a counterpart you knew I did not care for; I think it is most amusing that you would willingly deploy me as a weapon to threaten your homeland, even when you would promise me that I am not just a blade to be wielded by the Tsaritsa." Childe rested his hand upon the table, the desk, covered with his reports and papers, "It's fantastic entertainment, Zhongli, simply fantastic."
or...in the aftermath of Osial, Childe becomes trapped in a nightmare of his own making. Surely it's Zhongli to the rescue? No. Zhongli is the one who is keeping him there...

He listens to the melody, and his right hand loosens in the blanket.
There is the tiniest pause in Zhongli's intimate performance, and Ajax breathes out.
Zhongli smiles against Ajax's cheekbone, but he does not halt in his repeating of the lullaby's refrain, a slower tempo now.
Ajax relaxes, into Zhongli.
Zhongli murmurs, in acknowledgement. "Well done, Ajax." The words settle upon Ajax's flesh in the guise of Zhongli's breath, as Zhongli nuzzles at his hair and cradles him to lay him down upon the cover, and moves his hand to settle upon Ajax's stomach.
Protective.
Protective, of the beast.

Ajax is not all right - but Zhongli will make him so, through the mediums of body worship and praise.
