Summary
Kit watches as the pretty dealer divides the deck into two halves, her thumbs elegantly releasing the cards so that they fall interleaved, and forms a bridge to put the cards back into place. It’s a dance between expert hands and too many cards, and Kit, who has never been good at shuffling, can’t take her eyes off it.
She must stare for too long though, because the girl abruptly stops shuffling and clears her throat to get Kit’s attention. “Is there a problem, miss?”
Kit blinks up at her and flushes at the sight of everyone else at the table glaring at her. She should know better than to distract a player before the game – God knows she hates it –, but she can't help it if she's a lesbian and the dealer is insanely hot.

Pair the spares, Boorman thought, when he thought about it. Not that he minded; Airk was great company. He’d go a bit quiet at times, slipping away to brood on his own, but he was usually game for a good time.
It didn’t hurt that he looked stunningly like his dad in certain lights: his roguishly charming, utterly sexy dad that Boorman had wanted to be and just plain wanted, in equal measure.
When Airk grinned it was like Madmartigan’s ghost was there, just for a moment. When he frowned it was eerily like how Mads looked on the harder nights of the quest for the Cuirass, and that was painful to remember.
Airk’s resemblance to his father induced a complicated rush of emotions that made Boorman shiver, and reach for another drink.

Summary
"Jade?" Kit looks so shocked the redhead wouldn't be surprised if she had grown three horns and a tail in the last few seconds. She's going to reply, but her gaze is now stuck on the princess's eyes. They tell a story within them that Jade wished she could understand.
"Kit?" Graydon walks up behind her, his hand tapping her shoulders softly, ruining the moment. The brown haired girl turns, her expression changing into a look she's never seen sported on her best friend's face. It's something Jade can't place. "Would you like to dance?"
"Sure."
As they slowly travel to the dance floor, Kit sends her a look that clearly reads 'we need to talk later'. After the last few notes of the song is finished, the married couple makes their way to the center of the room.

Taking the Reigns: Jade sighs heavily as she watches Kit leave her and the others behind in the Nelwyn Village in order to search for Airk herself (ep. 2). When Jade and the gang finally catch up to the Princess on the road, Kit must ride with Jade on horseback for the rest of the day’s journey, causing sexual tensions to mount and both friends start to realize their feelings for each other.

Kit and Jade's life is moving forward nicely. Everything is in it's place. Their relationship has been solid for four years and Kit knows tonight's the night. Tonight she will ask Jade to agree to be with her permanently.
The proposal has been carefully orchestrated within the group under Kit's exceptional organisational skills to go off without a hitch. Everything is just perfect. Timed right down to the minute.
"It's time. This is it. This is really happening!" Kit thinks as she sinks down on bended knee, ring in hand while Jade is looking skyward at the colored fireworks exploding and flashing in brilliant patterns across the black backdrop of the evening sky that Kit can see reflecting in the shimmering of Jade's honey-dipped hazel eyes. It's perfect. Everything is just perfect.
It's right at that very moment that the car appears out of nowhere and ploughs into them leaving Kit fighting for her life and Jade fighting for Kit.
