6 Jul 2023: Wow. Nearly two years on, and we are fast approaching the end of what has turned out to be a behemoth of a series. That so many have followed (and even binged!) what must seem like an unending succession of chapters all this time will never cease to amaze me. Thank you all for reading, commenting, and dialoguing with me throughout!
As to whether I plan on writing anything else - I do. Whatever I write next will not, however, be linear (in terms of timeframe) as this work is. Rather, I am thinking of writing vignettes, to flesh out some of the 'background'/ 'between scene changes' stuff in Communications itself; in response to reader suggestion/ query. So, if you think there's some 'backstory' you'd like explored or interrogated a little more, drop me a note in the comments section, and we'll see where that goes!

Charolette Hackett Granddaughter to Admiral Steven Hackett left for Andromeda as soon as she could with her Grandfather's blessing. She felt...called. She was one of the very few humans who still believed she wouldn't find her soulmate. Soulmates were as common as the dirt under your feet in a planets surface. There were still many out there who never find their soulmates or who never had one. Once someone found their soulmate (skin contact was all that was needed) and memories of your past lives with that person/soul would flood your memory. Your soulmate and you would isolate yourselves to help each other sift through current lives and past lives. Once done you could either reject your soulmate (which was rare and painful) or continue the relationship from the past. Those who have found their soulmates earned a mark upon their body somewhere usually above their heart. This was a known rule among all milky way species, Everyone had a soulmate and a past life. Asari and Krogan could meet their soulmate a couple dozen times in one lifetime whereas Salarians rely on how often they're reborn to make up the differences.

While she wants to simply enjoy herself, Maryam knows it can’t last. She straightens her back, wincing slightly when it pops. Beside her, Jaal’s eyes widen in horror, his voice carrying the same seriousness as if they were on the field, “Pathfinder, are you alright?” And he comes close enough for her to smell the perfume he’d had to ask for permission to bring on board. He reaches out, hesitant, his hands seeming to not know where to go. “Did you... break something? Are you injured?”
Really, being the Pathfinder didn't seem to come with many breaks, so when Ryder got clearance to collect data for the fauna and flora around Aya, she jumped at the opportunity. Taking the extra time to relax afterwards may have been a mistake, especially with her newfound Angaran popularity.

Summary
Each day I will upload a ficlet to here for Jaal appreciation week! I have seven things planned and the first chapter is going up a bit late. It is written in first person, that's just my favorite and what I work best with.
The first chapter is dealing with biological issues. A mating season in angara and dealing with menstruation in humans. Sara helps out with Jaal during his time with the helpful guidance of Sahuna. Jaal helps out Sara when she doubles over in pain. This chapter is kind of a mix of angara headcanons and a slight introduction into my OC Sara.
The second being having pie with Sahuna and just talking about family and culture/romance in general.
The third being that Jaal and Sara have an accident out in the field. Jaal accidentally hurts Sara. (Because accidents can happen)
The fourth is Jaal and Sara purposefully bugging the crew by being overly sweet to each other and "that couple"
The fifth is Gil, Jaal, and Sara playing old Earth games together. This includes most of the humor and playful banter.
The sixth is the smut chapter. It is slow, happy, romantic, and emotional.
The seventh is a cute and very fluffy ficlet about Sara giving Jaal a gift of art.
