Summary
Buck found himself in a fortunate position at the 118 fire station. He had already undergone top surgery and legally changed his name prior to starting his job, which allowed him to navigate his new environment with relative ease. His ability to pass seamlessly as a man meant that he could introduce himself without raising any questions, allowing him to blend in effortlessly with his colleagues. This stealthy approach provided him with a sense of safety and acceptance, enabling him to focus on his work and build relationships without the burden of revealing his past.

Summary
Tommy sat on the edge of his bed, his hands nervously twisting the edge of his shirt as he stared down at the floor. He’d tried to be patient with Buck, tried to understand, but lately, every time things started to heat up between them, Buck would pull away, his eyes wide with panic, his body stiff with tension.

He looked away, his voice barely a whisper. “Sometimes, I feel like I’m already gone. Like if I disappeared, no one would even notice.”
Eddie’s heart shattered at the admission. “That’s not true,” he said firmly. “You have no idea how much you mean to the people around you. To Maddie. To me. To Christopher. You’re his hero, Buck. And you’re mine, too.”
Or Buck has suicidal thoughts and Eddie helps him

Summary
He doesn't want to lose his job either, but this is what’s fair. He swore to protect people, to have his teammates' backs, and that’s not what he did back then. No matter how much of an asshole Gerrard is (or was), his actions were unacceptable and he is tired of everyone pretending he is a hero when he is clearly not.
Buck sat down at the café table, the clatter of dishes and murmur of conversation around him dull compared to the thudding in his chest. Across from him, Detective Petrova and Officer Williams took their seats. He inhaled deeply, bracing himself for the questions he’d been waiting for—the ones about his boss, the rescue, everything.
But the first question threw him completely off balance.
“So, Buck,” Detective Petrova started, glancing at her notepad before meeting his eyes. “What can you tell us about Doctor Wells?”//OR// I brought up that dead body from the grave because I still can't believe how they brushed it off

Summary
“Did you say Evan Buckley?” Eddie has to confirm because there’s no way he heard that correctly.
“Yes, sir…” The lady says, continuing on, but Eddie hears none of it, his brain still stuck on the name. Evan Buckley. He hasn’t heard that name in years. His thoughts become a grainy slideshow of memories, fragmented from the years; a wicked smile on a dirty face, broad shoulders covered in camo, curly hair blowing in the breeze, piercing blue eyes gleaming in the sunshine.

Summary
“Buck, I wasn’t trying to offend you.”
“I’m not offended.” Buck lies, “What gave you the impression that I was offended?”
He takes a deep breath, one that has Buck split between fear and anger, and massages the bridge of his nose, “Because you’re huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf over a joke I made.”
“So you think I’m being ridiculous?”
“I never said you were being ridicu —“
Spitefully, Buck rushes to turn on the stand-mixer at the highest speed possible with an unnecessary amount of force, the loud whir of the machine drowning out Eddie’s voice. Which, if he wasn’t being ridiculous before, he certainly is now. Eddie throws his hands up in the air then lowers them straight back down, because not even he can believe Buck’s audacity.
Buck gets offended, breaks a stand-mixer, and has a mental breakdown all in the span of two minutes. Eddie is the witness and catalyst to this sequence of events.

Summary
“Hey,” Eddie’s voice pops through his thoughts and he looks up to see him and Howie looking at him in concern. He sort of hates that, but is also grateful adding to the confusion about how he feels tonight.
“Sorry,” he says, leaning forward and taking a sip of his beer, which is pretty good actually. It’s hard to find craft beers he isn’t picky about. Evan used to gently tease him about it. Just thinking that makes a pang of hurt strike through his heart. “I’m good.”
Eddie and Howie look at each other in unison.
“No, you’re not,” Eddie says, setting his beer down. “We had hoped to distract you tonight, but it’s not working is it? Come on, man, you’re 40 today.”
Or: Tommy's birthday is a few days after the break up, but thankfully he's not alone. 8x06 fix-it.

Summary
It’s as he’s reading over a box of crackers that caught his eye, he feels someone’s gaze on him.
“Tommy,” he says as he looks over. There, at the end of the aisle, right next to the granola bars, Tommy is standing. Looking as shocked to see him as Buck probably is.
“Buck,” Tommy says.
Right… Buck.
Buck really needs to stop having these tense conversations in grocery stores.

Summary
“We knew he wouldn’t be all-in, straight away, though. Like, we knew that, we were prepared for that.” Eddie insists, waving at the space around him. And they did – when Christopher announced he was returning from Texas, Josh sat him down and opened the conversation of what this would mean for them. The answer was… Eddie didn’t know; but it would take Christopher at least a couple weeks to warm up to the idea, he’d guessed. “I mean, when Buck first started going out with Tommy, it took two months for Christopher to be okay with even speaking to him.” Or the one where Josh endures an awkward dinner, the jury’s still out on the Diaz-Russo family, and Eddie’s love is the best reassurance.
