Lan Zhan goes to study at the YunmengJiang Academy as part of the time-honoured traditional annual summer exchange program between them and the GusuLan Academy. Before leaving, he was warned by his uncle about how Terrible, Horrible, No Good those Yunmeng Boys™ are and how they will Seduce You Away From Your Studies and to avoid them at all costs.
Spoiler: It doesn't work, and Lan Zhan doesn't quite know what happened, but now he finds himself being seduced by the two resident Yunmeng Heartthrobs™, Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng, who took one look at poor innocent Lan Zhan and closed in on him like a pair of foxes scenting a poor helpless bunny.
Lan Zhan finds that he actually, really, quite enjoys being a poor helpless bunny if it means that these are the handsome foxes chasing after him (even if it means he melts into a panicked puddle of messy feeings every time he sees them).

Lan Zhan can only say so much before the words get caught in his throat. He has long learned how to use his words sparingly, how to build enough of a reputation to minimize the use of words, has learned to hide behind little grunts and pointed looks.In contrast, Wei Ying never seemed to run out of words, speaking often and quickly, whatever was on his mind, mumbling equations and theories and his own thoughts as if he had a word quota to meet and exceed on a daily basis.
So the Gusu University students found it rightfully strange that the two were dating.

So please, save Wei Wuxian.
Don’t let him wallow in his hurt all by himself."
It’s only when the tears fall onto the page that Lan Wangji registers that he is crying. How can he feel so grieved for someone he doesn’t even know?or: Highschool student Lan Wangji receives a letter from himself from a different lifetime. Wei Wuxian took his own life then. Lan Wangji receives a plea from himself to make sure Wei Wuxian doesn't walk the same path again.
