" Stacee has turned to face the stage so Willard mirrors him, sipping at his barely alcoholic drink, the first he’s had all night. He’s still not overly enraptured by the performance on stage, and because Stacee seems to be a master at reading people, he leans into Willard’s ear so they don’t have to shout and he asks, “This not typically your scene?”
Willard laughs, “What gave me away, the cowboy hat or the hick accent?” Stacee whispers, “Both,” his breath ghosts over Willard’s ear and it makes chills rise on his skin in an instant, a tingling sensation passing down his spine.
Stacee’s voice borders on a purr as he continues, “More than that, though, you seem almost…bored.” Willard laughs again, scrubbing at his jaw, “I don’t know about bored.”
Stacee exhales, something soft, but the ghost of warm air over Willard’s neck has him suppressing a shiver where he stands. “Well, you sure seem far more entertained to watch me than you do with the music.” "

" The whole crowd laughed and Stacee laughed with them, “I kid you not, he couldn’t have picked me out of a line-up and I loved that, I felt…normal, in a way I hadn’t in a really long time, it was refreshing and invigorating and even liberating if you wanna call it that, it was damn-near addictive, and before I knew what was happening, I started falling for this goofy ass guy with an accent thicker than sin who said phrases that really knocked me on my ass sometimes, just gibberish,” he laughed even louder, “I really felt like a teenager in love all over again."
“Damn, he’s whipped,” Madison whispered, laughing. Natalie nodded, chuckling.
“I don’t know, it was the strangest thing I’ve ever experienced and yet, I’d never go back in a million years because now I have him,” he smiled, teeth splitting his face wide, sunglasses glinting in the stage lights, “And I am never letting him go, because last week, I asked him a little question and he said yes so…” The entire crowd screamed. "

" “Don’t flatter yourself," whatever the response was, it made him cackle and croon down the phone, “No, you certainly don’t need me to tell you that, do you?” His smirk then faded to something closer to a genuine smile and he tipped his head down, “I wouldn’t either, baby,” he toed at the ground and his smile grew wider, “I love you too.”
Fanboy’s eyes blew wide. This conversation was private for a reason. He felt like an intruder witnessing even just one side of it but he couldn’t force himself to move, having never seen this side of the other pilot in the twelve years they’ve known one another.
When he finally got back to his car, he laughed at the sheer exhilaration of finding out a secret he should not know."

Summary
With the way his life worked, Antonio should have known that his first mission as a fledgling cleric of the Church of Knowledge would be anything but simple.
The once-peaceful City of Cloudvale was desperate for help to track down the forces responsible for a spate of murders as violent as they were mysterious. While the city guard investigated all possible mundane causes, the city council, suspecting darker forces at play, put out a call for any intrepid adventurers to lend their unique skills to the cause. A call that Antonio’s church had seen fit for him to answer.
Though he started off on his mission alone, Antonio wouldn’t stay that way for long. A wounded rogue he saved would be but the first of many adventurers to join him on his quest. While the ragtag group was brought together by chance, they would come to be bound together by much more on the stage that had been set.
But in the City of Cloudvale, nothing was what it first seemed to be, and even the brightest cloud cast a long shadow.
