It’s a selfish request. Baizhu expects Zhongli to refuse, because what reason could Zhongli possibly have to spend the night with him? Surely he wishes to return to his own home, to shake off the lingering bitterness from the ceremony, and to sleep. Baizhu regrets asking the second it’s out and opens his mouth to rescind and apologize, which is why it’s so surprising when Zhongli looks pleased and dips his head with a tiny smile.
Baizhu and Zhongli find comfort in each other.

Uninterested yet respectful, he had never asked much more than necessary, mostly learning organically what felt best for Baizhu and what he could do to allow him to lean onto his kink. But over time, the curiosity that had been building up until it overflowed.
Baizhu’s finger paused and the shapes stopped being drawn on the yaksha’s back as the pharmacist looked at him interested.
"Oh?" His golden snake eyes opened wide and a witty smile appeared on his face. "Perhaps you would be interested to try?"

He walked with his people and observed how they went about their day. He studied how their life was different from what he was used to and shared with them his own knowledge in return. He had also hoped that in that way, he would be able to properly mourn the death of his beloved dendro archon. There was still lingering pain and regret even after 500 years, after all, he was never there when the archon perished.
Zhongli, when he was still Morax then, felt so enraged. He threw rocks and meteors down the already extinguished life of Khaenri’ah and desecrated further its blood-soaked lands. But what was lost was already lost. There was no way the Heavenly Principles would hear his cries and pleadings to give him back the only beautiful thing in his mundane life. He had suddenly missed not caring about such things, but he didn’t have anyone else to blame but himself. Affection? Love? And between archons? Oh, how risible he was.

Love is not something he should suffer again, or so he believes until he meets that man with scarlet eyes and a sarcastic smile. At that moment he allows himself to believe again, but not before overcoming some difficulties that have haunted him from the past.
