Country music superstar Jensen Ackles has a secret. Or he did until the tabloids got a hold of pictures of him in a compromising position with another man. Now his agent has shipped him off to some tiny town in Massachusetts where they've never heard of country music to lay low until the scandal dies down. Everything is going according to plan until Jensen meets Jared, an English Professor at the local university. Jared devotes all his free time to LGBT awareness and issues while Jensen would rather just not talk about it. Nonetheless he finds himself falling for Jared. Central Texas is hit with a freak February blizzard causing record snowfall, a collapse of the power grid, freezing temperatures, and burst pipes. Austinite Jensen Ackles is keeping warm in his lakeside home with his fireplace, chef quality gas stove, and warm winter activewear. The arrival of snow-covered Jared Padalecki dressed in beanie, shorts, and compression tights to 'rescue' Jensen with an ATV full of water, Power Bars, and condoms will warm things up considerably.

We all know how Jensen sings at cons all the time now. We also know that Jared sang on Jason Manns' Christmas album and plays guitar, but is generally very shy about performing in public, having only played guitar on stage at a con once. What would it be like if Jensen eventually convinced Jared to sing with him onstage?
Since Jensen has sung NEEDTOBREATHE songs before (namely Brother), I had the idea that maybe when Jensen would finally get Jared to sing on stage with him, it would be another NEEDTOBREATHE song, a recent single of theirs called Cages. This is that story.
