Summary
The intersection was bustling, people streaming over the crosswalks. It had been five minutes already, stuck in traffic. Her watch’s cracked screen read two-oh-five, her car’s clock said four-ten. Either she was incredibly early or she was going to be late. Her car idled as she shoved her watch into the glove compartment to be dealt with later.
“Hey!”
Ame looked over her shoulder. To the left, a bit behind the car next to her, a blue car of the same model. With a seat moved so far forward and up, she thought for a moment a kid was driving the car.
The stranger’s hand pointed at herself, then at Ame, back at herself, pendulum rhythm. “We match!” She grinned with sharp teeth.
Against reason, as the clock ticked four-fifteen on the car’s dashboard, Ame found herself smiling back. “We do!” She called back.
