Based on The Sacred Band of Thebes: The year is 338BC and Dean’s erastes Benny is leaving the Sacred Band of Thebes, the elite Greek company made of homosexual lovers. A new batch of hoplites join the band as the older men leave, and Dean has to pick his new eromenos. He chooses the man who barely fills his armour to be his partner on and off the battlefield.
It is not long before they prove themselves in battles against other Greek cities, which they will need to do to protect their citadel against the likes of Alexander the Capable, prince of Macedon, who wants the riches that Thebes holds. It is also not long until a secret Castiel has been holding is exposed.
