There’s a rustling on the other end of the phone that Shane reads as Ryan nodding. “Yeah, my mom and dad have the generator running though, you wanna come out to Arcadia?”
“Can’t,” Shane says, immediately. “Obi—”
“Shit, that’s right,” Ryan interrupts. “Fuck. Okay. Give me an hour?”
There’s no time for Shane to say anything, let alone disagree or suggest that Ryan not do something stupid, before Ryan disconnects the call.
