Summary
"I should never have asked you to leave Night Vale," Carlos said. "No matter what was happening over here, no matter how bad things got... the Desert Otherworld is worse. I was wrong, and I'm sorry."
Cecil waved him off. "I'll accept that last apology, but we're not going to dwell on it anymore. We've said what we had to, and now it's behind us. We are going forward."
"Going forward," Carlos repeated. "Together."
After a year spent in the Desert Otherworld, our favorite scientist is finding it difficult readjusting to life back in Night Vale. But, with the support of his friends, found-family, and his ever-loving boyfriend Cecil, Carlos will discover that a scientist is never alone. A companion piece to the fourth season of Welcome to Night Vale.

Summary
It had been a few days since his first date with Cecil, and Carlos still couldn't get the experience out of his head. He wanted to be concerned about it, he really did, but given that he had managed to get through three days of classes, shifts, and lab time with barely a yawn he couldn't find it in himself to do so. He finished off another coffee, smiling as he called out the name and gracefully handed it over to the customer.

Summary
It wasn’t that he didn’t like the job - the repetitive monotony of pouring drinks was oddly therapeutic and ensured that at least some of his clothes smelled of bean water rather than chemicals, and besides, it helped to pay his tuition. It was more that he disliked the people involved.
Maybe this was why Carlos didn’t really think about romance all that much. Which, in turn, was probably why he almost didn’t notice when the smoothest voice he had ever heard began announcing his coffee order.Series

Summary
This will be a collection of very short scenes I've written that I don't feel are long enough to be posted as their own stories, but that I still want to share.
I was tempted to post these with no context whatsoever and make you guys wonder what's wrong with my brain, but AffableDisaster tells me that context is important, or some nonsense like that. So there will be a note at the end of each piece giving some context for why it exists. I hope you all enjoy!
Shout out to Affable for coming up with the main title of this collection and allowing me to use it! All ficlets beta'd by them unless stated otherwise.

Summary
As he parked his car, she stooped down to grab a rock from the pile she’d made on the sidewalk next to her. She gripped it tightly in her fist, and then whipped it at one of the identical houses that lined the residential street. The projectile found its mark, and as it collided with the window, it spilled hundreds of glittering glass shards to the ground below.
Cecil leaned against the side of his car and watched her. “You do know that what you’re doing is illegal?” he asked, though he made no move to stop her. Everything she’d been doing thus far was her choice. Who was he to tell her to stop? Still… she deserved to be warned. Night Vale authorities wouldn’t be so kind to a repeat offender.
While Carlos is away in the Desert Otherworld, Cecil and Rochelle have a heart-to-heart, or as much of a heart-to-heart as the stubborn scientist will allow him. Set in the Truth, and Other Misconceptions universe.

Cecil wanted to comply, he truly did. Carlos seemed so desperate and sad and afraid, but it was out of his control. He wished he could speak well enough to apologize.
"Cecil! CECIL!"
And then everything went black.
"Press 4 if you need to report a missing venomous pet," spoke the automated line on the other end of Carlos' phone from its abandoned spot on the wooden floor.
"Press 85 to know the location of Night Vale's newly invisible and non-functioning hospital."

Summary
This story follows Carlos and Cecil's relationship. It attempts to complement canon, filling in gaps here and there and incorporating information from later episodes into earlier episodes.
These are not really my headcanon Carlos and Cecil. These are...possibilities, based on canon. Carlos seems rather young these days, so I wanted to play with that, put that youthful energy into the story from the beginning. Meanwhile, I love all the Cecil headcanons, but I wanted to explore him just being average. Human, normal, and middle aged. He's not special to Carlos because he's eldritch, or because he has unearthly powers. He's special because he's Cecil.

Summary
"Listen, I—I'm sorry, I have to cancel tonight. Something's, uh, come up." Something he should have been paying closer attention to.
"In the lab?" They almost sound hopeful. "Is it something I should put on the show?"
"No!" Carlos yelps. "No, it definitely should not be on the show. Uh—better cancel for Thursday night, too. I'm sorry. Don't—don't come by the lab, okay?"

Carlos goes unexpectedly into heat, for the first time since he started dating Cecil.
