    It wouldn’t take a witcher’s senses to notice the tremble in Jaskier’s voice and fingers, the tension in his jaw as he shifts his weight from one leg onto the other, not able to stay still even now – and Geralt forces down the sigh that rises up behind his teeth as he cocks his head to the side and regards Jaskier for a long moment. This is exactly what he had wanted to avoid.

    “We’re going to set up camp for tonight”

    “Okay”, Jaskier says too brightly, clapping his hands, “where and how exactly then?”

    Following a witcher he has met in a shoddy tavern isn't what Jaskier had imagined when he had first caught up to Geralt - and their encounter with the devil and elves leaves him more shaken than he (or the Netflix canon) would like to admit.

    The Witcher Herd - The most recent story, is more of the other Witchers and servants side of the Progress. Revolves mostly around Ersa and Dominik

But instead of finding the scary, powerful yet also beautiful Yennefer, someone else was there to help Jaskier from the Djinn. Someone from another world, someone who is, too, powerful and magical, and different from everyone and everything else from the Continent.

    "You know, Geralt, you could take her up there." Geralt grunted at the brunette opposite him, with a cut on his lip and his cheek swollen. "Fuck. You sure the witch is just a sorceress?"
    "Hm. Also a bard. She says."
    "A- Geralt, you're fucking with me."

    "Is it true Witchers are…unable to have children? Yen told me this when she scolded me for wanting to keep you and Jaskier around."

    Geralt has had a miserable time in Redania, contracts far en few between, and decides to go fill a contract put forth by the Viscount de Lettenhove.
    When the Viscount tells Geralt to name his price, he names a night with him. A night with the Viscount, just to see the other man waver and refuse. To Geralt's surprise, the noble agrees.

    “Butcher,” the Viscount breathes out, and Geralt tries his best not to flinch.
    Instead, he looks at the man coolly. The word from the Viscount’s mouth makes him inexplicably angry. He shouldn’t be surprised at the moniker, hasn’t been in a long while, but right now it stings in a new and unexpected way. He’s angry that the man that loves his people so much, has tried to save their children and kill the monster, now isn’t even seeing him as the last resort he was when he was a nameless witcher.

    The viscount blinks dark lashes over his blue eyes and opens his mouth to speak, but Geralt cuts him off.

    “I said I’d take the contract. You said to name my price. Are those still the terms?”

The catch is you only remember what happens in those dreams if you’re currently in one, or if you meet in real life and you BOTH want to be with each other, meaning your waking lives carry on as they would have otherwise with you none the wiser as to whether or not you have a soulmate out there.

    This leads to unexpected and wonderful tearful reunions between soulmates discovering each other in waking life, but if your waking selves don’t get along or have emotional constipation (cough, Geralt, cough cough) you and your soulmate can only watch helplessly from your dream meetings as your waking selves make things terrible for both of you without even realizing it.

    (Created my own homebrew soulmate!au rules to get myself some solid logical worldbuilding where the characters still have to choose each other in the end, no matter what what destiny says.)
