Summary
It's not even that they don't like you. As blunt as your teammates are in strategy meetings and practices, it never feels like they're being personal about it. They just treat you like any other Spy.
You think it would be easier if they didn't like you.
Evelton McBlase II figures out how to be a person.

“Do you ever wonder,” they say, “if this is the same Houston we left?”
“Clark,” says Margo, sitting half a dozen rows ahead, staring unblinkingly forward, “come on.”

Summary
And then a bartender walks over. There’s a bright floral shirt, probably green or orange or some combination of the two, and dark sunglasses holding xir hair back even though xe’s inside and the sun hasn’t shown itself in the better part of a week. Xe leans against the table and asks, with the ease of someone who’s been doing this for years, “The usual?”
Reese has never been here before. But they’re a little curious what xe thinks their usual is, so they say yes.

Summary
Marco Escobar is standing at the window, arms clasped behind their back, staring out at the corona of the eclipse above An Undisclosed Location. They are standing next to a strategically placed air vent specifically to make their trenchcoat flap dramatically in the breeze, a bit of unnecessary theatrics that elevates the weekly meeting beyond something held at a laminate table underneath faintly buzzing fluorescent lights. They continue: "We need to prevent the Crabs from ascending."
In a universe where the Spies do not get Reverbed midway through season 9, they win the season 9 championships. And then they get cursed by a god.

okay so you probably need to read my other daiya fic to get the most out of this but
basically i conceptualized the spies shadow daiya vine as someone displaced from time, but not in the normal way. sort of in the 'gets brief flashbacks / flashforwards of the other people around them, and those are heavily influenced by the emotions those memory scenes hold' way.
and then the desert happened! and i think a whole team remembering themselves could be fun to see through the eyes of daiya, so i wrote this first bit of it. might write more later! might not

Summary
There's bookcases on the walls, several populated with books. Math selects one. It describes a game called blaseball. Math puts it down and picks out another one. It is also about blaseball. A third is about blaseball. In an increasing panic, Math looks at another, and another, and another -
An unexpected sound. Someone else is there.
"Where is this? Who are you? Do you know what's going on?" the interloper says.
The Spies live, love, and only occasionally die, in a universe where there is nothing for Blaseball players to interact with outside of Blaseball itself.
...Or, rather, where there's supposed to be nothing for them to interact with outside of Blaseball itself.

Summary
Standing at the entrance to the conference room, a gleaming suit of armor with an immaculate pink uniform and large sword strapped to their side gives the assembled group a light wave. They can’t see their face under the helmet, but all of them get the impression nevertheless that they are giving the entire room a winning smile.
“Good day, Houston Spies,” says Knight Triumphant, noted captain of the Lovers and extremely unauthorized visitor to the Undisclosed Location. “I believe that I am here to help.”

Summary
It feels like a Zeno's paradox apocalypse. Every time they reach the things that should have heralded the end of the world, they're still there, somehow, and they still have to deal, in some way, and there's yet another, even worse, disaster just about to happen. It would almost have been easier, Alex thinks, if things had properly and cleanly ended: at least then the worst would already have happened, and there wouldn't be this constant almost-but-not-quite-hope almost-but-not-quite-despair of wondering if things could disintegrate further.
Had just one or two more things gone wrong, Season 10, Day X could have ended very differently. And then after that... well, Blaseball is a horror game.
In the face of this, the Spies do their best to keep each other alive and remotely sane.
