Summary
“You said that your dad was in army.” Paul’s eyes found Percy’s face as soon as he heard the teenager speak. The darkness of the skin right under his eyes made it clear this wasn’t the first time that Percy had struggled to sleep lately.
“He was.” Paul responded before swallowing. He knew Percy wasn’t asking because he wanted to know what the food was like or where Paul’s father had served. He pretty sure he wasn’t going to enjoy what Percy was going to ask but he’ll take whatever it was over Percy isolating himself.
“How does he go about living his life when he’s killed people?”
There wasn’t an answer Paul could could give. His father had never liked talking about having killed people. His father had preferred to talk about the friends he made in the army, the pranks he pulled on his fellow soldiers, or the places he had visited during in his three years with the army.
“I suppose he took it one day at a time.” Paul eventually answered. It didn’t feel like an answer though and his stomach was twisting at that. Percy wouldn’t be asking unless there was a reason. Something had either happened or something was going to happen.

Summary
Percy wakes up with a start. His eyes focus, and the same face is staring down at him. The same blue eyes, the same elvish features, same skin tone-
Before he knows it, Percy lunges up, grabbing Luke with one hand, uncapping riptide with the other, kicking out with a leg and twisting until Luke is pinned underneath him. Percy slashes with riptide, forwards, under Luke’s neck until-
Hands appear in front of his neck, stopping the blade from touching. Golden blood emerges, staining the celestial bronze blade.
Golden blood? Luke doesn’t have golden blood.
Breath heaving and confused, Percy looks up at Luke’s face.
The large, intrusive scar that runs down Luke’s face isn’t there. His hair isn’t blonde, it’s brown. His eyes aren’t glowing golden. The presence that Kronos emits isn’t there. It’s not Luke. But if it’s not Luke, then that means -
Oh no.
Oh no no no.
It’s Hermes.
