Summary
Captain Kim Hongjoong and his crew would do anything in their power to rescue San, their sailing master who was abducted in a seemingly random attack, from the vile clutches of a man known solely by his title: the Commodore - a depraved leader of an unspeakably deadly and despicable fleet.
With no leads and on the brink of despair, they take custody of a man known as the Commodore's favored Lieutenant, Park Seonghwa, a former Navy officer who defected his way into the upper echelons of the Commodore's ranks, and seek to use him to track down the infamous force holding their friend captive.
However, unknown to Hongjoong and the rest, the man they believe to be a willing compatriot of the Commodore is truthfully his greatest victim, called by those who know the open secrets of the depths of the Commodore's evil as the Commodore's Wife.In an effort to bring their friend home, the crew of the Horizon find themselves in a moral conundrum, attempting to reconcile what they've been told of this man with what they now see. How can a man who is aligned with a monster be a victim, and how can someone who is so scarred and terrified of vulnerability trust anyone enough to tell the truth, even if it could save him?

Summary
Growing up, Hongjoong had heard whispered tales about Manyeo, dark magic users that were stolen as children and moulded to become monsters. Some say that they trade their souls for power, some say that they kill anyone who sees them, some say that they're just a myth to make children behave. Once he became an adult, a pirate captain, Hongjoong had passed Manyeo off as being figures of fiction.
But the man locked in an enemy ship's brig had all the signs: the tattoos down his back, the dye that stained his fingertips, the clothes and weapons and jewellery. Maybe he really was a Manyeo, and maybe that was why his lips had been sewn shut. You can't cast spells if you can't speak.
If he had been a wise man, Hongjoong would have killed the man while he was weak. If he had been a wise man, he wouldn't have looked into the other's eyes and noticed how they seemed to hold all the stars from the night sky. But Hongjoong had never claimed to be a wise man, and he wasn't about to start now.

Summary
"I will not stand to be put in any danger! And I refuse to be killed by those wretched savages!!"
"You won't be, Your Highness." Seonghwa took a moment to observe the matching confused looks on the queen and prince's faces before he was abruptly hoisted forward by Captain Jang. Seonghwa winced as the captain's hand clenched viselike around Seonghwa's bicep before thrusting him toward the royal family. "He will."

Prisoner Seonghwa becomes the unwilling body double to a rotten prince and he is not happy about it.

Summary
Seonghwa never understood why his town considered him special. He never questioned his mother when she taught him to follow two simple rules living in the mountains of Joseon:
The first one, find fresh water and food. The second one, do not let pirates find you.
Ironically, it took Seonghwa not being able to stick to the second rule to understand why he had been kept away from the sea.
Or, Seonghwa fails to avoid pirates, and ends up aboard of the ship of Pirate King, Hongjoong.

Summary
Captain Kim Hongjoong had spent his childhood in the abusive grasp of his tyrant father, until he planned his own escape and pulled together a mismatched crew with a bond thicker than blood. When he brings a prisoner on board, the last thing he expects is for the newcomer to infiltrate that bond, and he watches as the control begins to slip through his fingers.
Kim Hongjoong knows how it feels to hate, and he uses it to avoid feeling anything else.
Park Seonghwa hadn’t been in control of his own life in a long time, so when he is taken prisoner by a new crew of pirates, he is resigned to the cruelty of their captain. Hatred is comfortable, and two can play at that game. However, the rest of the crew is kinder to him, and he feels his walls begin to lower despite the mounting tensions between himself and the captain.
Park Seonghwa knows how it feels to love, and he never wants to feel that weak again.
