Summary
When up-and-coming playwright Quentin Coldwater lands the Brakebills Theatre Co. spring residency program, he's pretty sure life's as good as it's ever gonna get. After all, Brakebills introduced him to the magic of the theatre in the first place, and now he's got the chance to work with them––and their very handsome, very helpful associate director Eliot Waugh.
But as Quentin's about to find out, it's one thing to open a door and another thing entirely to follow where it leads.

Summary
AU from episode 1.03. A voicemail is sent instead of erased, and Jane Chatwin makes a different choice. Quentin gets kicked out, and goes to find Julia. They stage a nerdy hedge revolution, Eliot keeps his promise, and they take on the Beast in a different way. Maybe magic can run on love, after all.

Summary
The quarter is in the outermost pocket of the camping bag. Eliot takes it out and zips the bag securely—as securely as it can get when you’re a magician embarking on a quest to resurrect your dead lover (almost lover, but Eliot didn’t let him get that far because Eliot is stupid), the next step of which is jumping into a fairy circle, which is the biggest magical no no of them all. It’s up there with killing gods and making deals with ancient, magical monsters and breaking deals with ancient, magical monsters and bringing people back from the dead.
So just another Tuesday then.

Quentin has to breathe eventually. He pulls back, brown eyes warm and soft and light, pulls back just for a second before he's leaning back to press his forehead to Eliot's. Leaning back to say, "I mean it too."
It takes Eliot a second to understand what he means, but when he does he's grinning, laughing into Quentin's mouth, peppering little kisses across his cheeks as Quentin grins, as he tangles his fingers in Eliot's hair.

Summary
There was a plague of Near Deer terrorizing some of the outlying farmsteads near the Erroneous Mountains.
The mountains were so called because they tended to wander around on maps and in real life, though in different directions in each place. The Near Deer were so called because they were deer that stood on their hind legs. They were creepy as fuck.
("For fuck's sake, Quentin," Eliot had said, the first time he saw one. "Did you have to?")

Summary
Sometimes he just wants to pretend.
It’s his face and eyes-
Sometimes, the Monster will draw close, close enough that Quentin can’t see the snarl it pinches Eliot’s mouth into, and he can't help but pretend that it’s him. That it’s Eliot’s head on his shoulder. That it’s Eliot’s hands, passing him a plastic airplane. That it’s Eliot’s breath shuttering against his ear. Sometimes, he just wants to curl up, put his head to that chest that used to be his and listen to that heart beat at its ribs and pretend that it’s Eliot’s.
And then the Monster blinks just a bit too fast, or talks just a bit too slow, or squeezes just a bit too tight, and the illusion shatters and it’s just heartbreak and shame like boiling water pouring into Quentin over and over and over again.

In storytelling, we all know you need to give the reader what they need, not what they want … so anyway here’s an ending to The Magician’s Land that gives me what I want, namely Quentin/Eliot.
