“It has been 2 entire weeks, Vincent. 2 weeks of radio silence from you. No texts, no calls, no active status- no nothing!”
Instead of greeting his roommate, Paul’s voice carries a scent of annoyance and a sting of anger mixed with something else (one might even call it concern). The mug in his hand fell through his loose grip a moment prior. Shattered pieces lefts a layer of thin sharps that bite into one’s bare feet. The light at their doorway switched on because of the sudden motion.
When the Dutchman first noticed those light sensors, he thought he got back to the wrong house. But it seems Paul replaced more than a couple of things while he was away. -

Paul Gauguin found himself in shambles when he set his eyes on the golden field. The field swirled in front of his eyes… exactly as Vincent used to describe it in his letter. Its beauty has always been such a magnificent sight for one to embrace. For the once alive impressionist, even the splint of its sparkling grace tightens his chest. If there was no memory attached to the field, Paul knew he would have enjoyed the view like anyone else.

Paul noticed that Vincent's eyes had taken on a totally new color, something he'd never noticed or had never seen before. His eyes were empty and lifeless. A dead kind of grey. Like a winter sky, like the one earlier today, devoid of anything bright.
In the end, Vincent left the fields without Paul after he had finished gathering all his things.

But Gauguin takes exception to Pastor van Gogh's treatment of his son and decides to set him straight.
