Summary
Song Lan and Xiao Xichen are two soulmates traveling together. On one of their travels to Yiling, they rescue an orphaned Wei Ying from dogs and decide to raise him as their own. Even though they try to give Wei Ying as much as they are able, they feel that Wei Ying won't be able to settle down. One day they are invited to Cloud Recesses where Wei Wuxian meets Lan Zhan. They get off on the wrong foot at first, but soon become close friends until they want to become something more. Trouble is brewing, though, will Wei Ying and Lan Zhan be able to come away unscathed?

“You did your best.” Song Lan reassures her. “And it’s all we could do to help.”
“I’m sure it’ll work out somehow.” Xiao Xingchen says, though he himself doesn’t sound convinced. He and Song Lan continue to discuss what could be done, and A-Qing’s thoughts wander to Madam Lan and the pain in her eyes.
